The reason behind it all…
Shelby’s daughter, Nyomi, was born with a rare tumor that caused nerve damage. When Nyomi became aware of her differences, she asked her mother when she would be ”normal”, like everyone else. This question inspired Shelby to write a children’s book celebrating the uniqueness of every individual.
The book features characters based on real children with medical challenges, conveying the message that everyone is perfect as God created them and that our differences are part of what make each of us special.
Through her writing, Shelby hopes to encourage open conversations about medical differences and promote the idea that we should embrace and celebrate the diversity of all people.
